Upper Mustang Trek
You are cordially invited to join us on its forthcoming trip to Upper Mustang, either on your private group or on our regular schedules. 2 People minimum number 4 are more idea to travel on this route. If wish to be part of big group we can have 20 or even more at a time.
Recommended travel dates are recommended between August and Oct to coincide with autumn in Mustang when the cultivated fields are about to be harvested and are displayed in shades of lush green, pink (flowering chick-peas!) and gold.
The 16-day itinerary has been specially planned to allow plenty of time for acclimatization and to include visits to all the most important places in Upper Mustang: monasteries, caves, castles, palaces and fortresses, as well as the legendary “walled city” of Lo Manthang – the destination of a lifetime! If wish to use comfortable road trip the duration can be within 7 days.
This will be a “tea-house” trek, with accommodation (high qualities with all minimum modern facilities are available) in the homes of the local people. All meals will be supervised by Eco-Trek’s cooking staff, who are fastidious about cleanliness, and who prepare the tastiest and most nutritious meals imaginable.
The total distance to be walked will be approximately 220 kilometers. The pace, however, will be leisurely, with plenty of time for photography, and to explore the surroundings. The highest point to be reached is a pass at 4255 meters.
For the return journey, the group will travel via the seldom-visited eastern valleys – avoiding going back the way. Thus the tour becomes a “circuit”, with new places to see, and new vistas opening up every day.
